Thousands lined up the streets for the 2009 annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Kilkenny yesterday.
Luckily enough, great weather was to be had for the parade that lasted for about an entertaining hour and a half.
The parade’s route was: MacDonagh Junction > John St. > Rose Inn St. > Parade > High St.
Parade Marshal turned out to be none other than Johnny Barry, of local broadcaster fame.
Extra entertainment was provided with in-parade demonstrations from O’Loughlin Gaels & Dicksboro GAA clubs with O’Loughlin Gaels playing mini games of hurling with a pair of goals as part of the parade. Kilkenny Storm, Kilkenny’s Ice Hockey team also provided a entertaining demonstration of ground hockey without any injury to player nor spectator alike. Finally, fair play to the guys at Extreme Pizza who provided free pizza to unsuspecting spectators throughout the parade.
Surely, a great day was had by all.

My wife and I visited for St. Patrick’s Day week and had the pleasure of watching the parade in Kilkenny. I tried to get some pictures to keep for our memories but none turned out as good as yours. Please contact me if possible to take you up on your offer to get a copy. Thank you.
