Irish Patchwork Exhibition: “Links”

Posted by James On June - 15 - 2008

Blue20Moon

A unique patchwork exhibition known as “Links” is being held in Cillín Hill on the Dublin Road, Kilkenny from Sunday 22nd June until Sunday 6th July; from 9am until 6pm. Admission is free. This exciting exhibition will be showcasing a diverse range of exhibits, from small wall hangings to large bed quilts, using Traditional and Contemporary Textile Art forms. The artwork that will be on display will have been designed with love and inspiration by people from all over Ireland, from amateurs to professionals.

Quilting is a way of expressing creativity and so rarely is one quilt the same as another. Some of the quilts have been made using computer graphics and photographs printed onto fabric; several embellished with materials such as wire and beads; many are heavily quilted by machine or hand; while others are made from unused fabric scraps creating art work that captures history.

This exhibition has been organised by The Irish Patchwork Society which now has seven regional branches around the country, and has been sponsored by the well known Brother International Corporation (Ireland) Ltd.

All are invited to attend this special exhibition to celebrate, educate and bask in the creativity by those involved.

Should you have any questions regarding the exhibition you can email the Irish Patchwork Society at admin@irishpatchwork.ie or visit their website at www.irishpatchwork.ie.
